Growing support for Congress after NEET fiasco: Komatireddy

Expressing confidence in the prospects of Congress at the national level, Roads and Buildings Minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy said the country is witnessing growing support for the party as was seen in the series of anti-government programmes taken up by the party and the reception from the people.

The NEET controversy was an ample proof that the Centre was least interested in administration, but only in politics, he said adding that people were now feeling the need for a young leader like Rahul Gandhi.

Addressing the media in Nalgonda on Friday, he said the Centre must accept moral responsibility for the examination paper leak incidents, which have affected the future of lakhs of students.

Mr. Komatireddy also expressed concern over attempts to weaken welfare measures such as the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA), stating that such programmes continue to provide crucial support to the rural poor and landless labourers.

Earlier, he reviewed the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) meeting with Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and directed them to ensure complete transparency in the voter list revision process. The Minister appreciated the efforts of Congress leaders, Booth Level Agents (BLAs) and Booth Level Officers (BLOs). He said 98.5% enumeration had already been completed in Aleru Assembly Constituency, while Bhongir had achieved 93% and Nalgonda 85%.
