Celebrity hairdresser Khatoon Dizale talks about Subhash Ghai and Madhur Dixit.
Actor Madhuri Dixit made her film debut with Abodh in 1984, but her career truly took off after starring in Subhash Ghai’s 1989 hit Ram Lakhan. In a recent interview, celebrity hairdresser Khatoon Dizale, known for her work in Bollywood, revealed that she was the one who recommended Madhuri for lead roles to several filmmakers.
During a conversation on Lehren Podcast, Dizale said, “Subhash Ghai told me that he wants a new girl. So, I said that she has worked in only one film. I did her hair for the film Abodh’s test look. I told him that she is really good at her work, and he asked me to show her.”
The veteran celebrity hairdresser added that Madhuri Dixit brought both her parents with her while coming to Mumbai for auditions. “During a film’s shoot in Kashmir, Subhash ji called her for a test, so she came with her parents. It was a dance test. Then, she got selected and worked in his film Ram Lakhan. After that, there was another producer of the movie Awara Baap, I am forgetting his name, Madhuri was in that film. I was the one who told him that this girl is good and he asked me to make him meet her in Bombay. She brought her parents with her to meet him as well.”
