Roads and Buildings (R&B) Minister B.C. Janardhan Reddy has decided to reduce the number of vehicle in his convoy. The decision comes days after Prime Minister Narendra Modi suggested austerity measures in view of the ongoing West Asia crisis and Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu and a host of other ministers downsized their convoy vehicles.

As part of the initiative to cut down fuel consumption, Mr. Janardhan Reddy on Thursday sent back an escort vehicle. The Minister also instructed officials to discontinue the use of unnecessary security vehicles during his future official tours. On the occasion, the Minister urged the public also to adopt austerity measures and curtail unnecessary expenditures.

Meanwhile, the Minister toured various villages in Koilkuntla mandal during the day. Mr. Janardhan Reddy expressed displeasure over the filthy road conditions caused by the overflowing drainage water onto the road within the limits of Chinna Kopperla and Pedda Kopperla villages in the mandal. The Minister directed officials to clean the drainage system and ensure that no sewage remained on the roads by the evening.

The Minister also emphasised that the responsibility of maintaining clean surroundings lies with the people. When the locals brought the issue of drinking water shortage in the village to the notice of the Minister, he assured that the issue would be resolved.

In Lingala village, the Minister participated in the idol consecration ceremony of Sri Someswara Swamy (accompanied by Goddess Parvati) and Sita, Rama, Lakshmana, and Anjaneya Swamy idols.

Later in the day, Mr. Janardhan Reddy met with Koilkuntla mandal party leaders and directed them to take the welfare and development programmes being undertaken by the State government to the people. He assured that justice would be served to every activist who worked hard for the party.

He said the party should win the local body elections and asserted that there is a need for the party leaders and cadre to work harder for the growth and development of the party.
