Stalin also announced plans for a broader organisational restructuring under what he described as 'DMK 2.0'.

Former Tamil Nadu's outgoing Chief Minister MK Stalin.
The DMK’s Trichy South District executive committee on Thursday passed a special resolution urging former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and party president MK Stalin to contest from the Trichy East Assembly constituency in the future.
The resolution was adopted during the district executive committee meeting held in Trichy, where party functionaries discussed the DMK’s performance in the 2026 Assembly elections and organisational matters.
According to the resolution, district leaders and cadre expressed confidence that Stalin contesting from Trichy East would further strengthen the party and energise workers in the region.
The meeting also discussed measures to intensify grassroots outreach, strengthen booth level activities, and expand public engagement following the party’s electoral setback in the recent Assembly polls.
The development comes at a time when Stalin has launched a wider feedback and restructuring exercise within the DMK under his proposed “DMK 2.0" vision after taking responsibility for the party’s defeat in the 2026 elections.
Stalin Takes Responsibility For Defeat
In a video message posted on X, Stalin accepted responsibility for the DMK’s performance in the Assembly elections and urged party workers not to blame others.
“I take full responsibility for this defeat. When we win, the credit comes to me; so, when we lose, I must accept the responsibility. That is the hallmark of a good leader. We must accept that. This is certainly not the result we expected. Please do not blame anyone else for this," Stalin said.
Announcing the new outreach initiative, he added, “Speak your mind openly. That is why we have launched the ‘Udunpirappin Kural’ (Voice of Siblings) website."
Explaining how the platform would function, Stalin said people could send their views in multiple formats.
“Sharing your views on this site is very simple. If you speak your thoughts in your own voice, it will be transcribed automatically. You can also type them directly. Alternatively, you can write them on paper, take a photo, and upload it, or send it as a document. Your thoughts will reach me. I will read and consider all of them and then shape our next course of action. Our approach, thinking, and activities–everything must change. We must evolve according to the times," he said.
‘DMK 2.0’ Vision Announced
Stalin also announced plans for a broader organisational restructuring under what he described as “DMK 2.0".
“Based on your feedback, ‘DMK 2.0’ will emerge. I am going to make necessary changes at all levels of the party. Because of this, for the next 100 years, this movement will function with vitality; it will function for you," he said.
He further stressed the need for introspection and rebuilding after the electoral defeat.
“I will update myself and return immediately. We all need to come back like that. For that, I need your advice, recommendations, and ideas. Whether it is an election or a correction, I must come to you. The people are everything. Tell me what the reasons are for these election results and how you think the DMK should continue to work for you," Stalin added.
