Postmortem on Prateek Yadav, son of Mulayam Singh Yadav, finds death from pulmonary thromboembolism and six ante mortem injuries, further forensic tests are planned.

The postmortem report of Prateek Yadav has revealed startling details, including six injury marks on his body, deepening questions surrounding his sudden death at the age of 38.

According to the autopsy conducted at King George’s Medical University in Lucknow, Prateek died due to “cardiorespiratory collapse caused by massive pulmonary thromboembolism" — a severe blockage in the blood vessels of the lungs.

The report, however, also found six ante-mortem injury marks on different parts of his body, including the chest, right forearm, elbow area, beneath the right arm and left wrist.

Doctors noted that:

  • Three injuries were around five to seven days old
  • The remaining three appeared to be about one day old
  • Authorities have not yet clarified how the injuries were sustained.

Heart, Lung Samples Preserved

The postmortem report said Prateek’s whole heart and pulmonary thromboembolic material had been preserved in formalin for histopathological examination, while viscera samples were sent for chemical analysis.

Investigators are now expected to conduct further forensic tests to determine the exact nature of the blood clot and rule out any toxicological or medical complications.

Had Lung-Related Health Issues

According to doctors at Medanta Hospital, Prateek had been undergoing treatment for hypertension and pulmonary embolism for some time.

He had reportedly been admitted to hospital on multiple occasions before his death.

Prateek, the younger son of late Samajwadi Party founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and husband of BJP leader Aparna Yadav, largely stayed away from active politics and focused on business and fitness ventures.

He was rushed to a civil hospital in Lucknow after suddenly falling ill earlier this week, where he was declared dead.
