Share market live today: FII ownership in Indian blue-chip stocks falls to 14-year low amid global reallocation: Expert
N. ArunaGiri, CEO of TrustLine Holdings.
“To understand the sharp decline in FII ownership in large blue-chip stocks, one first needs to look at the broader context of overall foreign institutional ownership in India and how India’s weight in the MSCI EM Index has evolved over the last few years.
For perspective, FII ownership in Indian-listed equities has fallen to a fourteen-year low of around 14.7%, compared to nearly 18% levels seen a few years ago. At the same time, India’s weight in the MSCI Emerging Markets Index has sharply declined from over 20% about two years ago to over 12%+ currently.
Seen in this backdrop, the fall in FII ownership in blue-chip stocks appears to be less about a shift from large blue chip stocks to broader markets within India and more a consequence of a larger global allocation trade by foreign investors. This is a very important distinction to understand.
What has effectively played out is a reallocation of FII capital away from India towards markets such as Taiwan and Korea, where compelling AI-led investment narratives have emerged (especially semiconductor chips based). The changing weights within the MSCI EM Index reflect this trend quite clearly, with Taiwan and Korea witnessing a meaningful increase in index weights even as India’s share has steadily declined in the MSCI EM Index.
That said, the recent trading sessions suggest that the intensity of FII selling may finally be approaching exhaustion. With valuations turning increasingly attractive, there are early signs of foreign investors selectively returning to Indian markets, going by positive flows in the last three trading sessions despite worsening geopolitical tensions, currency and oil price pressure points.
India’s valuation premium over other emerging markets, which at one point had widened to nearly 100%, has now moderated to around 66%. Simultaneously, the rupee trading near all-time lows could also make Indian assets attractive from a currency appreciation perspective over the medium term.
The recent inflows should therefore not be interpreted as a full-fledged comeback by FIIs, but more as the beginning of a tactical re-entry trade, driven by improving relative valuations and signs that the worst of the selling pressure may already be behind.”

Commodities Market Live: Gold, silver break key support as Iran tensions fuel stagflation fears; gold eyes $4,350, silver targets $71–$67
Renisha Chainani, head of research at Augmont, writes - Precious Metals break important support levels as Iran tensions fuel stagflation fears.
· Price movement– Gold fell below $4500, and silver slipped under $75, as rising US-Iran tensions kept inflation risks and rate-hike prospects at the forefront of investor sentiment. Silver has erased all gains that had been built on AI-sector optimism and growing demand for metals used in data-centre infrastructure.
· Geopolitical Developments – President Trump warned that US strikes on Iran could resume within two to three days if Tehran declined Washington’s peace terms — remarks made shortly after he confirmed calling off a prior attack following Gulf allies’ intervention. Iran’s nuclear programme remains the core sticking point. The prolonged conflict has kept the Strait of Hormuz effectively shut to shipping, pushing oil prices higher and deepening inflationary pressure.
· Macro-economic Signals – Rising US inflation has driven traders to further pare back Federal Reserve rate-cut expectations for the year, while strengthening speculation that the central bank may instead raise rates before year-end.
Technical Triggers
· Gold’s break below $4500 has cleared the way toward the March low near $4350, with resistance at $4600–$4800. The higher-highs/higher-lows structure holds above $4300, indicating pullbacks remain consistent with re-accumulation rather than distribution.
· Silver’s loss of the $75 support level points to continued downside, with $71 and $67 as the next key targets.

Stock Market Live: Bitcoin consolidates around $76,000 amid macro uncertainty; key support at $70,500
“Bitcoin is consolidating around the mid $70,000 range after a volatile week that saw the asset retreat sharply from the $82,000 level. The correction reflects a shift in market positioning as traders turn cautious amid rising geopolitical tensions and persistent inflation concerns, both of which have reduced risk appetite across crypto markets.
At the same time, macro uncertainty continues to dominate sentiment, with investors reassessing the likelihood of near-term monetary easing. While developments around the Crypto Clarity Act have improved the longer-term regulatory outlook for the sector, inflation fears have outweighed those positives in the near term, limiting upside momentum for Bitcoin.
ETF demand has also softened during the recent correction, contributing to Bitcoin’s decline from $82,000 toward the $76,000 zone. From a technical standpoint, the market is now closely watching the $70,500 level, which is emerging as a key support range that could determine Bitcoin’s next directional move.
For investors, the current phase highlights a market transitioning from strong momentum-driven rallies to a more macro-sensitive environment. Until inflation expectations and geopolitical uncertainty stabilise, Bitcoin is likely to remain highly reactive to external developments, with support zones becoming increasingly important for maintaining broader market confidence.” - Avinash Shekhar, Co-Founder & CEO, Pi42

-An AI jobs apocalypse is not here yet, but governments should prepare now rather than wait for visible labour-market damage, as per an article in the Economist. Top AI models and agents are improving much faster than expected, while business spending on AI is rising sharply and Anthropic’s annualised recurring revenue is projected to hit $50bn by the end of June. Even so, the article stresses that there is still no clear evidence in current data of AI destroying jobs at scale. Its deeper warning is that the real risk may not be mass unemployment immediately, but falling job quality, weaker wage bargaining power and a greater share of income flowing to owners of capital. The piece argues governments should not try to stop AI progress, because the technology could also bring major gains in wealth, medicine and climate solutions. Instead, it recommends safety nets such as wage insurance, labour-market retraining and smarter taxes on excess profits, land and inherited wealth so the gains from AI are shared more broadly.

The yen could either weaken to 170 versus the dollar or gain to 140, depending on how events unfold, according to Alberto Tamura. Japanese authorities won’t want the yen to weaken significantly from the current level, Tamura said.

Stock market live updates: Nifty may open weak; 23,400 support crucial for today’s trade
Gaurav Udani, Founder - ThinCredBlu Securities
Nifty is expected to open lower around 23,450, down nearly 160 points, indicating continued weakness amid cautious global cues.
The index is now approaching a crucial support zone, and today’s session will be important from a technical perspective. 23,400 remains the immediate level to watch — a sustained move below this could trigger further selling pressure and potentially drag Nifty towards the 23,100 zone.
On the upside, 23,650–23,800 will continue to act as the key resistance range, where any recovery bounce may face selling pressure.
The overall structure remains weak in the short term, with sentiment favoring a sell on rise approach until key resistance levels are reclaimed.
Traders should remain cautious, avoid aggressive longs at the open, and stay focused on disciplined, level-based execution.

Commodities update: Samir Somaiya, Chairman & Managing Director, Godavari Biorefineries Limited (GBL), on energy security and self-reliance
The recent ₹3 price increase underscores that energy self-reliance is now more critical than ever, highlighting why we must accelerate our shift away from global volatility. What this moment really emphasises is how much India has already built to address this challenge. The ethanol blending programme is one of the most successful energy transition stories in the world right now. We crossed the 20% blending milestone ahead of schedule, which does not happen without strong policy commitment and an industry that has invested seriously in capacity. At current prices, ethanol is already more economical per kilometre than petrol, and it plays a critical role in putting money directly into the rural economy, into the hands of millions of farmers who grow the feedstock that powers it. India has the strength of the sun, the soil, and the small farmer, and that is a more powerful energy asset than any oil field. We have the sugarcane, the biomass, and the refining capability to keep scaling this confidently. Global crude will always be volatile, but India is in a stronger position today than it has ever been to absorb that volatility, protect consumer consumption, and reduce the broader economic impact over time. That is a genuine achievement, and one that puts us on the right side of the energy transition.

Stock recommendation: Jefferies maintains ‘Buy’ rating on JSW Energy
Jefferies maintained its ‘Buy’ rating on JSW Energy and raised its target price to Rs 675 (from Rs 660), citing a potential upside of about 31%.
The brokerage upgraded its target following JSW Energy’s strategic Rs 3,150-crore stake sale in JSW Steel, which brings several key positives to the company’s outlook:
Deleveraging: The share monetisation provides balance sheet flexibility, allowing the net debt-to-EBITDA ratio to potentially drop to 5.7x in FY27.
Capital Efficiency: The brokerage assumes a portion of the funds will directly support capex, trimming absolute interest cost estimates for FY27–30.
Earnings Forecast: Jefferies projects a strong 17% EBITDA CAGR between FY26 and FY30, and has raised PAT estimates for FY27–30 by 3–6%

Stock recommendation: Nomura: Anchor Report Avalon Technologies
India EMS: Avalon – Play on global industrial EMS upcycle
Avalon Tech: Initiating at Buy and INR1,722 TP
We believe global capex cycles across power and semiconductors are likely to see a structural uptick over a long time period. The rise of generative AI is driving strong power demand from datacenters, and at the same time memory shortages are spurring investments in semiconductor production equipment (SPE). Also, countries’ focus on nearshoring, clean energy and BESS are likely to drive higher investments. This could create meaningful opportunities for the outsourced industrial EMS segment (~8-20% of project capex) in terms of power electronics, control systems, etc. Capable smaller EMS players with global footprint should be key beneficiaries of this trend, in our view.
Key themes covered in this Anchor Report:
- EMS TAM analysis across multiple emerging segments such as HVDC, energy storage, and SPE.
- Comparison of global EMS players’ outlook, segment exposure and profitability, as well as comparison of India B2B EMS players across various metrics.
- We believe Avalon’s unique positioning as a vertically integrated EMS player, focussing on box build in these segments, US manufacturing footprint and in-roads into key customers will help it capitalize on the strong opportunity in this segment. We initiate coverage with a Buy rating and a TP of INR1,722.
