ET Now Exclusive: Govt shortlists 230 products across sectors for indigenisation

A total of 230 products have been placed in the priority basket after analysing 335 products

The products have been shortlisted to boost domestic manufacturing and reduce import dependence amid global uncertainties

Indigenisation strategies have been categorised into three segments: Quicker Indigenisation, Scalable Indigenisation, and Aspirational Indigenisation

The indigenisation of prioritised products will be pursued through short-medium and long-term plans

Working groups reviewed products across 25 ministries and departments

Alert: Govt had constituted six working groups to identify products for indigenisation

Products from sectors such as medical devices, chemicals, textiles, automotive and EVs, capital goods, renewable energy, power, semiconductors, defence, electronics, space, and telecommunications, among others, have been prioritised

The working groups also identified key barriers to indigenisation

Support is likely to be provided in the form of PLI, demand guarantees, and subsidies based on the strategic plan
