Unidentified persons allegedly erased Hindi script from station signboards and painted protest slogans demanding action over the NEET issue.

Tension prevailed at Chozhavandan Railway Station in Tamil Nadu’s Madurai district after unidentified persons allegedly defaced the Hindi lettering on railway signboards and painted protest slogans on the station premises.

According to reports, the incident took place on Tuesday night, when unidentified individuals allegedly entered the railway station and erased the Hindi script from the station’s name boards.

The accused also wrote slogans on the station walls demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The messages reportedly criticised the Central government and protested the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination.

The incident led to tension at the railway station, following which railway authorities initiated steps to remove the slogans painted on the walls and restore the defaced signboards.

Police and the Railway Protection Force (RPF) have launched an investigation into the matter to identify those responsible for the vandalism.

Officials are examining the circumstances surrounding the incident and are expected to take appropriate action based on the findings of the investigation.

The incident comes amid protests over the alleged irregularities in the NEET examination, with the slogans at the railway station reflecting opposition to the issue and targeting the Central government.

Railway authorities have not disclosed the identity of those involved, and no arrests have been reported so far.

The defacement of public property and the slogans painted on the station premises are currently under investigation as officials work to determine how the individuals gained access to the railway station and carried out the act.

Meanwhile, restoration work at the station has begun, with railway authorities removing the protest slogans and cleaning the affected areas while the investigation continues.
