Sunetra Pawar will officially take charge as the Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister today (Feburary 10, 2026). Ms. Pawar was sworn in as the first woman Deputy Chief Minister of Maharashtra at a brief ceremony at Lok Bhavan in Mumbai on January 31, 2026.

Ms Pawar was chosen as the group leader for the NCP Legislature part following the demise of her husband Ajit Pawar in a tragic air crash in Baramati on January 28, 2026.

Today, she will seek the blessings of Lord Ganesh at the Siddhivinayak temple at 9.15 a.m., and will thereafter go to Chaityabhoomi to pay respects to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar at 9.45 a.m.

In the State Secretariat, she will pay floral respects to Jijabai, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, Jyotiba Phule and Savitribai Phule. Later, Ms. Pawar will attend the Cabinet meeting at noon and will participate in the Business Advisory Committee meeting at 3 p.m.

The wife of the late Deputy CM takes charge against a politically fraught backdrop in the State that has been rocked by Ajit Pawar’s death. The Pawar family is set to raise doubts today evening about the air crash which had killed Ajit Pawar on January 28. The family had earlier said it had unanswered questions about the way the accident took place.
