Kochi Metro Rail Limited (KMRL) claimed to have registered an operational profit of ₹52.64 crore in 2025-26. The year also saw its net loss fall from ₹430.50 crore in 2024–25 to ₹352.49 crore, said a KMRL release.
The operational profit will go up when the metro’s second phase connecting the city with Smart City and Infopark in Kakkanad is commissioned, hoped KMRL managing director Loknath Behera.
The metro also saw average daily ridership crossing the one-lakh mark during the year, reaching 1.01 lakh passengers.
Of the total operational revenue of ₹224.65 crore, ₹76.33 crore (nearly 34%) came from non-fare sources.
