The Indian stock market ended lower on Monday as the escalating US-Iran conflict continued to weigh on investor sentiment.

- Sensex slumped by 442.93 points (0.57%) to close at 77,708.52.
- Nifty 50 moved down by 95.80 points (0.39%) to settle at 24,238.50
Gift Nifty
Gift Nifty was trading near 24,154, around 105 points lower than the previous Nifty futures close, hinting at a negative start for Indian markets.

The US stock market closed lower on Monday as investors turned cautious ahead of key earnings reports from major technology companies scheduled for later this week.
- The Dow Jones Industrial Average slumped by 307.16 points (0.59%) to close at 51,839.26.
- S&P 500 was down by 14.41 points (0.19%), ending at 7.443.28.
- The Nasdaq Composite was lower by 12.17 points (0.05%), finishing at 25,508.07.

- Brent crude slipped by 0.37% to $88.89/barrel
- US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude was trading flat at $82.47/barrel
Overnight Major Global Events Driving Sentiment
- US-Iran War: Two oil tankers caught fire after explosions while attempting to pass through the southern route of the Strait of Hormuz, Reuters reported, citing Iran’s Revolutionary Guards. The Guards said the Strait would remain closed as long as the US continued its military actions in the region. They also claimed to have targeted US military installations in Bahrain, including a radar facility and an air defence system in Muharraq.
- Core Sector Growth: India’s production across the nine core infrastructure sectors accelerated to a five-month high of 5% in June. The growth rate improved significantly from 3.2% in May 2026 and 1.1% recorded in June 2025, indicating stronger momentum in the country’s core industries.
